Anissa has been teaching Pilates for 14 plus years and is a fully certified Balanced Body instructor with over 800 plus hours of training and CEUs in anatomy, comprehensive training in mat Pilates, and equipment Pilates. Anissa is also a fully certified Level 1 Franklin Method Educator. A native of Louisville and a graduate of Xavier University in Cincinnati, Anissa has two children and has lived in Nashville TN, since 1995! She started taking Pilates after the birth of her second child in order to strengthen her core and correct issues associated with childbirth. That experience taught her the unique restorative techniques of Pilates, which has helped her not only reform her own body, but many others as well. Anissa considers Pilates as the foundational practice that creates body self-awareness, deep mind -body connection, core strength, mobility, and flexibility that translates to everything else we are doing with the body in life. Her approach to Pilates is unique as it incorporates the Pilates principles but then cross trains with other exercise disciplines to achieve the result of an integrally strong and balanced physique. Anissa incorporates and enhances her pilates teaching with the Franklin Method, which is a body-mind technique using mental imagery and a deep understanding of how the body actually works to improve movement and function.
