Our Intention
At Marathon Pilates, our mission is to empower individuals to embrace wellness as a philosophy for life. Through Pilates, restorative care, and a vibrant community, we help people move, restore, and thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Our Story
Founded in December 2013, Marathon Pilates began as a modest space dedicated solely to one-on-one private sessions. However, driven by community requests, it quickly transformed into a small, welcoming studio that embraced group Pilates classes and welcomed more trainers, evolving into a thriving business. In 2015, we expanded with a second location in East Nashville, fueled by our dream of becoming a full-service wellness space that included physical therapy and massage therapy.
In July 2019, the studio changed hands, as Ruby, the new owner, embraced our vision and aimed to preserve its legacy. Shortly after the transition, Nashville faced devastating challenges with a tornado that impacted the East location, followed by the COVID-19 shutdown. Like many local businesses, we faced significant setbacks, and Ruby had to make tough decisions to ensure her staff’s security and the community’s access to a beloved local studio.
Amidst this turmoil, Ruby recognized an opportunity to expand the original location, not to create just another “fitness studio,” but to foster a sanctuary for healing and wellness. She believed that cultivating a space of mindfulness and community was far more important than merely looking good in yoga pants. Thus, Marathon Pilates embarked on a new journey.
We committed ourselves to being a welcoming, inclusive environment that promotes healing, mindfulness, and wellness for everyone who walks through our doors. Since then, our studio has flourished, attracting exceptional trainers and building a vibrant community where everyone can experience the transformative benefits of Pilates.
With the addition of another location in Green Hills, we proudly offer a space where every fitness journey is embraced, in a safe and inviting atmosphere—perfect for newcomers and experts alike. Here at Marathon Pilates, you don’t need to be an expert in Pilates; just come as you are and be your best self, so you can do your best out in the world.
